Things I've Learned This Past Semester

Writing this in my cozy bed at home in NJ reflecting on this past semester.

  1. In complete honesty, I'm struggling -- and that's okay, I've learned its temporary. You have already gotten through 100% of your hardest days and will continue to do so. God only puts you through what he knows you can get through.

  2. After taking the spring semester off last year to focus on myself and heal, I thought I would go into school without a worry. But its not about "getting rid" of what you struggle with, its about learning how to deal with it.

  3. People are not judging you the way you are judging yourself. "Everyone is just as focused on their own life, so don't worry too much about what others think; they're likely just as preoccupied with their own concerns".

  4. Social media truly is a highlight reel. AND THAT'S OKAY!!! Loved the pictures I took this weekend so I posted them, but there were tears shed. It is so important to acknowledge this so we don't think everyone else has it so much better than we do.

  5. Its okay to say no. You know yourself better than anyone else knows you. I stretched myself too thin this semester because I wanted to do it all. I came to the realization that I was not doing everything I could to the best of my abilities so I am working to prioritize the things that really matter and say no to things that don't serve me.

  6. Quality over Quantity, Less is more. You can't have it all but when you focus on the good, the good gets better.

  7. All things in moderation. Navigating life while staying true to yourself can be so challenging. Ditch the all or nothing mindset and give yourself grace as you figure out the things that truly bring you peace and joy.

  8. The people who love you, love you for YOU. There is no need to try to be like other people, SOOOOO much easier said than done and I struggle with comparison like no other. I've said it before but being your authentic self is the coolest thing you can do.

  9. Slow down and enjoy each day. There are so many things to be grateful for but sometimes we can only recognize the little things that mean the most when we take a step back.

  10. It's okay to struggle. Everyone you meet is fighting a silent battle. BE KIND!!!

We are never a finished product -- although I say these are the things I've learned this past semester, they are things I need to continue to work on forever. Healing is not linear and comparison is the their of joy. YOU ARE LOVED.

XO, Mo
